it's the most wonderful time of the year!

cougar football, of course, is what makes it that way! shortly after we moved here we were invited to the first birthday of our elders' quorum presidency's youngest son. while there, spencer and i visited for a while with the second counselor in the bishopbric who also happens to be a big cougar fan. i really think that spencer pushed this guy over the edge in his quest to get satellite to watch byu football (a week later his wife came up to us after sacrament meeting to let us know that dish was being installed that wednesday). friday night before the first game we got a call inviting us to come over and watch the game. we had a really fun time. spencer has been able to go over for every game. i've gone a couple of times with the boys.

a few pictures from before game 1:

when spencer left after the first game (i left earlier to get the boys in bed), he was invited to go over every game. i really don't think we'll burden them with the whole family every time, but i think that spencer will see every game his schedule permits!

go cougs!

Camping August 08

We decided to take everyone camping for Labor Day weekend. We went up to "the rim," which is not the Grand Canyon rim, but another geological rim-like feature about 2 hours north of us. We had a great time and will try to go again soon. Here is Adam setting up the kids' tent. We slept with Rab in another tent. They did pretty well, waking up and getting rowdy (I think they were cold) around 2:30, and then not again until 6. Of course, I call that "pretty well" because I was not the one getting up at 2:30 to get their blankets straightened up and tell them to go back to sleep.

Here are the Big 4 enjoying the campfire.

Rab is congested (again!) and sick, so he mostly slept.

Preparing our smoked milk for breakfast . . . (actually we had to thaw it; I had frozen it).

Chopping wood with axe-shaped sticks they found.

The kids were shocked to discover that Dad can cook!
