Christmas Week

On Dec 27th we went hiking on Mt. Baldy. It was our first time there, and it was beautiful and freezing! (So. Cal standards, mind you -- 33 degrees.) There was still enough snow left over from previous falls that the kids were able to throw a few snowballs, and we couldn't help but think how incredible it was that within 30 min of our house we were in an entirely different world. It really was beautiful. Amanda has been working on her Faith in God award, so she planned the family outing and the "nutritious meal" as well so that she could pass off two requirement in one. The hike was just over a half a mile one-way, and there was a little waterfall at the end. (You can see it falling into Nate's hat in the picture.)

Not a great picture of the kids, but if you look carefully, the bright line (kind of orangish) near the middle of the photo is actually the ocean. We were able to see boats on the water, no kidding!

This is how Gracie enjoyed the hike.

Obviously this picture has nothing to do with our hike on the 27th. This was taken at Nate's aunt LuAnne's house on Christmas Eve. The kids put on the Nativity and, for obvious reasons, Chris kept saying he was Superman. He's definitely not color blind!
